Vampires?

I've noticed that this has become a big trend all over the world lately, but what does it really mean to be a "vampire"? Let's take a little trip back to the 1400's.

Vlad the Impaler was a Romanian ruler who took over Turkey and would stake his prisoners to his death.

Later on, around the 19th century, Bram Stoker would use Vlad the Impaler's punishment as an influence for his vampires in the book Dracula. Vampirism then became more popular than ever before. Vampires and their customs vary on characteristics depending on the authors and directors, but they all have similiar traits:

  • Fangs

  • Immortality

  • Weakened by sunlight

  • Unnatural abilities

  • Shapeshifting

  • Lust for Blood

Many subcultures arises from this, including vampyres. Vampyres believe that their souls are immortal, but need energy to live. Apart from all that, Vampires are the most popular creatures in the world, and they're not just done sucking blood yet!
